Forest Management and Productivity

This section describes tips, techniques, and practices for improving a forest's productivity.  That productivity should be measured against the woodland owner's goals and objectives.  Those objectives should be found in a written and well-thought-out forest management plan and could include timber production, wildlife habitat, recreation, aesthetics, alternative (non-timber) forest products, or any combination of those.  Starting with written objectives, and an understanding of forest ecology, and possibly with the assistance of a professional consulting forester, the woodland owner can determine which practices will be beneficial to their forest.
