Whiteside County: Tree Plantings

  • May 13, 2017
  • 9:30 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Yorktown Road near Morrison

A tour of Alan Kaplan’s tree plantings. Three types of tree plantings will be observed: RPM, seedlings, and direct seeding as well as wildlife plantings.

The plantings vary in age from a direct seeding about 20 years old to an RPM/seedling planting from this spring. The tree planting is about 25 acres, about 10% of the CRP acres. There are hardwood, shrub, and evergreen plantings along with other wildlife practices to see. This tour will present the good, the bad, and the ugly in a variety of plantings.

If it is fairly dry we can drive to a lot of the plantings, 4 wheel drive would be nice.
