NIFA & JDCF: Tree ID Workshop

  • September 24, 2022
  • 10:00 AM - 12:00 PM
  • Schurmeier Forest

Come learn how to identify the tree species of our local area with tree enthusiasts Pam Johnson (JDCF volunteer and Master Naturalist) and Ken Beach (Northern Illinois Forestry Association). This is a hands-on workshop that involves a 1 ½ hour hike over rough terrain. Wear long pants and bring your drinking water. The event runs from 10:00 AM to noon on Saturday, September 24th, and will be held rain or shine.  Free and open to the public.

Parents are encouraged to bring their children and will be given take-home information on activities appropriate for kids.

Schurmeier Forest is located south of Elizabeth.  Take Pleasant Hill Road south and turn left onto Reusch Road.  Look for the Schurmeier Forest sign on the left.  Parking is on the right.
